I want to welcome you to lewineamateur.com, website dedicated to explore the fantastic and never ending world of wine and its intricacies, in a fun and hassle-free manner.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve encountered several types of wine people (not to say aficionados); starting with the utterly novice who doesn’t have a clue, but likes to drink wine specially with food, because without acknowledging it, the pairings he/she stumbles across makes him/her happy; the WSET level 4 expert/sommelier/master whose knowledge allows for him/her to navigate the world of wine with ease; and last but not least everyone else in between.

For all of us in the middle, wine knowledge can be daunting and intimidating, however we’ve found that there’s no need for that. Most of the “Masters” can be approached and they’ll share they’re knowledge happily with us novices (except for the wine snobs, which only love to brag and diss on everyone who don’t agree with their opinions).

My personal journey started from watching my father enjoy, engage, study and share the wine world and its knowledge, so naturally I started learning empirically and by trying which styles I liked. With time, my curiosity evolved and I not only started tasting wine but reading and studying about it too. And that lead to me wanting to enroll in courses which is my current state. I’ve completed a course on sensory wine appreciating techniques by the University of California Davis and will be starting the WSET journey soon. Somewhere in between I decided to start my instagram account lewineamateur as my attempt to share and recommend wine in a simple manner.
